Driving along Bell St (a major road in northern Melbourne) today, we moved into the right lane so we could make our turnoff. Although we’d been moving at the posted 70 kph in the centre lane we were suddenly crawling along at 30kph in the “fast” lane.

We could not quite figure out the problem until we were in the turning lane and could then see that a few cars up, some SPOTD was slowly making their way down the road with their hazard lights going and rubber peeling off the blown rear left tyre on their vehicle. Rather than stop at the same lights we were at, make any attempt to pull over or use the next traffic lights to get onto a smaller road, they were last seen tootling off into the distance with a line of cars building up behind them.

Why would someone continue to drive on three tyres? SPOTD - what more reasoning do you need?
