When in Bunnings (hardware shop similar to the Home Depot, dear US friends) the other day, I walked past two women inspecting watering cans.  As one picked a plastic one up to inspect the volume it held, her friend asked:

SPOTD: “What do you want that for?”

Companion: “Watering the garden.”

SPOTD: “Oh. Right.”

The entire conversation was devoid of sarcasm, and seemed to be a genuine inquiry as to what use she could have for a watering can. I spent the rest of the time in the store wondering what other uses there were…
